The Events Department of BU Student Government aims to provide the BU undergraduate community with events and celebrations for everyone to enjoy. Some of the department's largest events include Winter Weeks of Welcome and the Sophomore Event. Winter Weeks of Welcome is held annually at the beginning of the Spring semester, with the goal of providing entertainment and activities for all students, but mainly students who are arriving on campus for the first time. The Sophomore Event also happens annually each year during the Fall, and it is a time for the sophomores to feel appreciated and loved. The Events Department also hosts smaller, monthly events and excursions to different parts of Boston. Previous events include the Solar Eclipse Sightseeing, BU Takes on TD Garden!, BU Takes on Fenway, movie nights hosted at movie theaters, and more! Events also often collaborates with other Student Government departments or even clubs. In the past, Events and Environmental Affairs worked together to host a reusable utensil kit event. Overall, the department takes pride in bringing joy to people's hectic and overwhelming lives through the events held all year long.

Harshita Pattam, a member of the Class of 2026, is in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Medical Sciences with a minor in Deaf Studies. She is part of BU’s 3 + 4 BA/MD combined program as well. She is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. For Student Government, she currently holds the position of Director for the Events Department. On campus, Harshita is involved with BU Global Medical Brigades, Nephrology research at the Medical Campus, the TIME(Tackling Inequalities in Medical Education) Initiative, Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity, and CAS Dean’s Hosts. Some of her hobbies include trying new restaurants around Boston, collecting Jellycats, and spending time with the people she loves. In Student Government this year, she hopes to bring as many events to life as possible while also considering what activities the general student body likes to participate in. She’s excited to work with her amazing deputy directors and staffers, as they try to bring joy to the everyday lives of BU students.
